In many cases, we find that website owners unknowingly create multiple URLs, creating products in essentially the same category within Magento. For example, a recently audited website had three different URLs in the "Bed" category. It was created for multiple Cork Bicycle Repair Zone top-level categories with the addition of "beds". This is the first example, with "Bed" added to the "Bedroom Furniture Category" in the navigation. Bed 2 And this is the same page linked from the "Bedroom" section of the website, under the "Bed" section of the same "Bedroom" section. Bed 1 Each of these URLs displays the same content , the same title tag , the same headline , and the same meta description . That is, because there are three URLs that can access Google, your website will not be ranked as well as the topic. The solution here is to have one version of the topic and only link to that page from different areas of navigation. This makes Google's job much easier because we know that the page about beds is the only page on that topic on the site and therefore we need to index on that topic. Conclusion If you are running Magento, it is highly recommended that you audit your site for the above issues. Of course, there are many other issues with duplicate content that are common on e-commerce sites. Here, I just scratched the surface with a Magento-specific example. If you run your online store on a different platform, it's a good idea to review this guide, which outlines common causes of content duplication on your e-commerce site.
